2015 Big Bear Air Fair soars into the San Bernardino Mountains.
August 2017 at Big Bear Airport

This year’s theme highlights the value and benefits that our airport provides to
Big Bear’s residents and valley visitors.

Gates open at 7AM with a pancake breakfast prepared by Big Bear Kiwanis. The show starts two hours later with a spectacular
high altitude entrance by the Just in Time Skydivers and an emotional marching musical presentation by Lake Arrowhead’s Fife
and Drum Corp.

“Wings Over Big Bear” brings with it more than a dozen of the aircraft which secured our Nation’s independence  in earlier
years. Two World War II vintage B-25 Mitchell Bombers, a carrier capable F4U Corsair, the 420 MPH P38 Lightning, the very
recognizable P-51 Mustang long range fighter, a 1000+ horsepower P-40 Warhawk and a Douglas Dauntless Navy dive bomber
arrive straight out of the 1940’s to grace our airspace. These aircraft will be accompanied on the display ramp by a Vietnam era
Douglas A-1 Skyraider and an assortment of T-34 propeller and T-38 jet training aircraft. Guests should find the 1930’s designed
twin engine C-45 Expeditor, also known as the Beechcraft Model 18, an exciting new addition to the display.

Fly-Ins are welcomed and enthusiastically encouraged to participate in the spot landing competition upon arrival.  Parking will
be available on the ramp south of the runway and east of the terminal. Awards will be presented in a variety of categories for
aircraft wishing to be reviewed by our panel of judges.

Consistent with the vintage aircraft on display, the Air Fair 1940’s admission price of just $1 should encourage visitors to come
and enjoy the many food and souvenir vendors and community group exhibits. And for the first time, we are excited to have the
Oscar Mayer Weinermobile!

This day promises to be filled with fun, food, fresh air and fantastic flying.

Big Bear Bear Mountain Ski Resort

Bear Mountain is proud to offer skiers and snowboarders almost 1,700 vertical feet of top-to-bottom beginner-through-expert terrain
spanning four mountain peaks and encompassing several perfectly groomed and powder-packed runs. Silver Mountain is home to
three very popular advanced runs and provides great access to Deer and Goldmine canyons. Geronimo is the highest, steepest and
most advanced run in Southern California and offers great access to Deer and Bow canyons. This run is for expert skiers and riders
only! To get to Geronimo, take the high-speed quad chairlift, Access Express, to chairlift #8.

When the snow gets deep and powder is present, Bear Mountain offers hundreds of acres of undeveloped canyon terrain! Deer,
Goldmine and Bow Canyons serve up some of the best tree skiing and riding inside the boundaries of a resort in Southern California.
When the canyons get tracked out, check out the additional acres of backcountry by way of Bear’s resort boundaries (check in with
mountain patrol before leaving resort boundaries.)
