Meet the Staff - About Us
Bear Valley Hospice has its roots back in Big Bear High School from the 1980s. Dr. Stewart, the hospice administrator, was then a
student football player who had found a calling through helping the team through first-aid. Since then, he has studied at Point Loma
Nazarene College, Loma Linda University, and UC Irvine for residency. Going on, he has served in the medical field with over 12
years of experience in hospice. Now, this calling has led him back home to Big Bear with the establishment of the mountain's first
local and community-based hospice.
Recognizing the value of Big Bear's beauty and the small town community, it is our goal to provide the best care possible for
individuals while remaining in the mountains. Through being a small, streamlined team of professionals, we can provide timely,
personal, and exceptional care without the overhead and distraction of larger corporations. Part of our commitment to the local
community includes donating a portion of our income to the community's non-profit organizations.

A review from a family member regarding Bear Valley Hospice and the staff.
I felt it necessary and compelled to write this review regarding the subject of Hospice Care, and touch on our personal experience
with regards to understanding and dealing with this issue, your loved one (in this case my mother-in-law), and the personal commitment
that not only you and your family are dealing with at this moment, but in our case since I can only address this from our personal
experience, in the last days and months of my mother's time on earth, I can clearly and unequivocally state that I know in my heart,
soul and mind, I have provided my mom with the Best Care Possible with love, dignity and respect.
The phenomenal care and understanding by the entire staff, extremely professional care as one would expect. Their commitment to
professionalism, compassion and understanding of what the entire family and patient is dealing with is second to none, not to
mention the special personal touches and whatever extra time may be needed for a family member is always available. They treat you
and your family member with courtesy, respect, and dignity. And yes, the do bring a smile to you as well, they become family.
Thank you Dr. Stewart and the entire staff for the exceptional care!
